Accommodation

V4FK now offers low-cost accommodation to volunteers.  Our two-bedroom apartment (complete with outside security guard and gate) offers a safe environment, and eliminates the need for volunteers to seek pricey outside accommodation. The apartment is located less than one km from one of East Nairobi's most modern shopping centers featuring a bank, restaurants, supermarket, and more.  (The western-style shopping center also boasts a bookshop, department store, food court, and Internet cafe.)

The apartment is also located just a three-minute walk from a major bus stop, with buses leaving to town at regular intervals. The apartment features a western-style overhanging shower, flush toilet, sizable kitchen space, and electricity/freshwater services.  Volunteers can rent a shared room with us now for roughly $40 a week - $30 a week per person if shared - whereas the cheapest hotels and hostels in Nairobi normally cost a minimum of $60 a week. For more information about accommodation availability with V4FK, please write to us at: volunteer4freekenya@gmail.com.  Thank you.

Food

Unfortunately, our program does not currently offer free food to volunteers (due to financial constraints).  However, volunteers can find 'reasonable' meals in Kenya from anywhere between $0.50-$5.00, depending on the taste and choice of the individual.  (V4FK can give volunteers a general rundown of Kenyan food and culture to help orient them to Nairobi.)
